President's message
'Tis the Season to be Thankful to be a Christian Communicator!
As we enter this time of year when we pause to celebrate the birth of our
Savior, I must admit that I'm humbled by the opportunity Christ gives me to be
a professional Christian communicator. I hope you are too.
As a print journalist working for various weekly and daily newspapers in
Missouri and Arkansas in the 1980s, I asked for God to use my vocation
to further the cause of Christ; but never really expected it to happen.
Then came 1989 when the former Brotherhood Commission of the Southern Baptist
Convention asked me to serve as curriculum editor. At the time I was employed
as a special sections editor at the Arkansas Democrat in Little Rock. I had a
good job with opportunity for advancement, but the chance to be involved in
writing and editing curriculum designed to prompt young men to be involved in
missions was just too appealing to pass up. Back
