2008 BCA Scholarship Program Winners

Congratulations to BCA’s 2008 scholarship recipients! The three well-deserving students are:

Junghoo Song, also known as Danny, received the Alan Compton/Bob Stanley Minority and International Scholarship for $1,000. A native of Korea, Danny is pursuing his bachelor of arts in journalism at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. In describing his call to Christian journalism, he said, “I believe that the direction God is moving me in is to do missions overseas, and I believe that the vehicle through which He wants me to do missions is journalism.”

Christi Ann Mitchell received the Al Shackleford/Dan Martin Undergraduate Scholarship for $1,000. Christi, a pastor’s daughter, is studying electronic media production at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. “My vocational objective would be to travel the world making mission documentaries for missionaries to tell others of the religious and cultural issues that the missionaries face,” she explained.

Brian Koonce received the Al Shackleford/Dan Martin Graduate Scholarship for $500. Brian is pursuing a master of arts in Christian education at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Brian, who also received BCA scholarship gifts as an undergraduate while he was pursuing his bachelor of arts in journalism at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, believes that he is called to be the editor of a state Baptist publication.
